The Legacy of Phoenix Saga: From Turmoil to Triumph
The Legacy of Phoenix Saga wasn’t just born from imagination—it was born from a time of deep personal turbulence. 2020 was a year of loss, isolation, and uncertainty for so many, and for me, it became the crucible where my passion for writing transformed into something far greater. The chaos of the world around me led me to retreat into a place where I could regain a sense of control—one that was entirely of my own creation.
It was in the pages of the Legacy of Phoenix Saga that I found my escape, and more importantly, I found myself.
A Journey from Pain to Purpose
The first book, Burning Rose, was my very first complete novel—and it wasn’t just a story, it was an emotional journey. I wrote the first drafts of all three books in a whirlwind month, pouring everything I had into them. But, as with any story worth telling, it took months of careful editing and refining to transform them into what they are today.
The saga centers around Nixie Rose (or Phoenix, as she’s known in the magical realm), a teenage girl who’s thrust into a world of ancient Norse magic after the loss of her father. Raised human, Nixie discovers her true identity as a magical Viking being—and with it, the responsibility of saving a powerful legacy. As Nixie comes to terms with her newfound powers, she is thrust into a world where gods, warriors, and dark forces collide. The very fate of the magical world depends on her survival, as she must stay alive until her eighteenth birthday to release a magic that lives within her cells—magic that can restore the Odin Warriors' strength and return balance to a world on the edge of destruction.
This saga isn’t just a fantasy world; it’s deeply personal. Nixie’s journey of self-discovery mirrored my own emotional voyage during a time of profound loss and personal grief. Writing became a form of therapy, a way to process the grief of losing my grandmother and to confront the uncertainty I felt about my future. At the time, I didn’t realize how cathartic the experience would be. The act of writing Burning Rose—and ultimately the whole trilogy—became a way to work through the sorrow I felt and the acceptance of the future. In a way, Nixie’s journey helped me find peace in my own.
The Unlikely Success
To my surprise, Burning Rose was more than just a therapeutic endeavor—it was a success. Readers resonated with Nixie’s struggles, her resilience, and the intricate world I had woven around her. It earned an award, which only fueled my passion to continue writing. And then, as if the universe was telling me that I had found my path, Ashes followed quickly after—gaining international sales and capturing the imaginations of readers around the globe.
The momentum continued with Risen, the third book in the series, which, to this day, remains my bestselling work. With each book, I found new levels of connection with readers, many of whom shared how Nixie’s story helped them in their own times of personal struggle or uncertainty. It was in those moments that I realized my journey with these books wasn’t just mine—it was ours.
A New Generation Awaits
But the Legacy of Phoenix Saga isn’t over. The story is far from finished, and I’m now hard at work on the final two books in the series. These books will bring a new generation of characters into the fold, answering the burning questions readers have been asking for years. Nixie’s legacy will not end with her—it will continue through the next wave of warriors, Norse mythos, and heroes who must face a world that has been forever changed.
While the end of the saga will mark a closing chapter in Nixie’s story, these final two books will bring closure to the mysteries that have kept readers captivated, while opening doors to new adventures and new legacies that will continue to resonate long after the final page is turned.
Reflections on the Journey
When I first wrote Burning Rose, I didn’t know where it would lead. I was just testing the waters, seeing if I could complete a novel and make it something people might actually want to read. What started as a personal catharsis quickly turned into a journey I couldn’t walk alone. I am beyond grateful for the readers who have come along for the ride, for the messages that share how Nixie’s story has touched their lives, and for the support that has made this whole journey possible.
As I finish the final books, I am reminded of why I started writing in the first place: not just to tell a story, but to offer something deeper—a reflection of loss, hope, and the fierce will to survive. This journey, like Nixie’s, has been transformative.
I can’t wait to share the final chapters with you. But for now, let’s let the flame burn brightly, as we prepare for the thrilling conclusion to the Legacy of Phoenix Saga.
With gratitude and excitement,
Peighton Murphy
